Carl Burnside, EdD

Carl graduated with a EdD from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2025. Carl's dissertation examined differences in reading and mathematics standardized testing scores between schools with a newcomer program and those with not. Carl's study revealed that the lack of statistically significant differences between the programs indicated that despite the intention of the newcomer program, its curriculum was not in alignment with testing outcomes. Moreover, his study highlighted key best practices for academic program evaluation including the importance of understanding graduation rates and the confounding impacts of socioeconomic variables.

Gorka graduated with a PhD in Human Services from Albizu University in 2025. Gorka's dissertation examined the characteristics of pharmaceutical counterfeiting schemes in Florida, comparing them to national trends. Gorka's research revealed that Florida, with its extensive trading infastructure, acts a major conduit of counterfeit drugs into the US. His findings offer insights to informing coordinating anti-counterfeiting efforts between Federal and state agencies.
